Though John Russell's roots are from Ohio, his interest in wine began in California. While working as an officer for Progressive Insurance in Sacramento in the mid 1980's, John and his wife Carol would spend weekends visiting Napa Valley with friends. In 1993, Ingram Industries brought John to Nashville to run their insurance division. Shortly after moving to Tennessee, the Russells met Kix and Barbara Brooks, who were living nearby in the same neighborhood. Soon after, they began carpooling their kids to school together.
In 1997, John created Vision Insurance Group. He later sold that venture in 2004 to ALFA Insurance. In 2007, John began spending time at Arrington Vineyards - enjoying the winery and bottling wine with Kix and the staff. John quickly fell in love with the winemaking experience and the scenic vineyards. He joined the Arrington family as a partner in late spring of 2008.
John has been a past Board Member of the Williamson County United Way and WAVES, which provides a broad range of support and services to adults and children with developmental disabilities in Franklin and Williamson County, Tennessee.
John also enjoys the ability to interact with the people that serve and protect America - both in law enforcement and our military services - at his other venture: Royal Range and Training Center in Nashville.
John and Carol have been married since 1981, and have two adult children - Amanda, and Michael.
