Fred Mindermann began his passion for grape growing and wine making after visiting Germany in the mid 1970s and made his first wine from grapes picked the fall of 1980 while in college with his fiancé now wife Carol. Shortly after moving to Tennessee in 1994 he started experimenting with various grapevines and in 2001 planted a research vineyard with Kip Summers on his property in Brentwood Tennessee called Liberty Hill Vineyard. One of the wines at Arrington is named after this vineyard called "Sweet Liberty".
Grapes grown and wine made on Liberty Hill with Kip Summers resulted in award winning wines in amateur competitions held in Tennessee. They both realized the potential of grape growing and wine making in Tennessee and pursued a dream of establishing Williamson County's first commercial vineyard winery. Fred met Kix Brooks at Liberty United Methodist Church and shared the winery vineyard dream and Kix joined in as the third partner.

Fred coordinated the first grape growing agriculture exhibit, amateur wine competition and wine tasting event at the inaugural Williamson County Fair in 2005. Purchased and developed with Mr. Kip Summers initial property of Arrington Vineyards in 2003 as original founders of vineyards prior to the formal establishment of Arrington Vineyards in 2006 with Kix Brooks.

Fred currently serves as a Health Care Executive and holds degrees/diplomas in histology, respiratory therapy, bachelors & masters in business administration and is currently pursuing a doctorate in wellness and natural medicine. He also completed vineyard-winemaking college credit education at UC Davis California.
Mindermann has been married to his wife Carol for 23 years and they have three children-Alex-19, Andrew-16 and Lauren-13 along with two soft coated wheaten terriers Dunham and Bailey.
